Why Serverwave Is Better Than Traditional Game Hosting
When we built Serverwave, we didn’t just want to be another game hosting provider. We wanted to fix the problems that have been baked into the hosting industry for years — overcharging, overselling, and outdated billing models that don’t make sense for how players actually use their servers.
Serverwave changes that. Here’s how.
1. You Only Pay for What You Actually Use
Most game hosts charge you a flat monthly rate — whether your server is active or idle, you’re paying the same amount. At Serverwave, that changes. Our hourly billing model lets you pay per hour per GB of RAM actually used, not just what you’ve reserved.
For example, you can set a limit of 10 GB of RAM, but if your server is only using 3 GB, you’ll only be billed for those 3 GB. Your server still has the ability to scale up instantly when you need it — like during peak play sessions — but you’ll never pay for unused resources.
That’s smarter, fairer, and in many cases, cheaper.
2. Full Control Over When You Pay
We know that not everyone runs their game server 24/7. Maybe you play with friends on weekends or just want it online during certain hours. With Serverwave, you can start and stop your server anytime, manually or automatically.
Want your server to run every evening from 6 PM to midnight? Schedule it.
Going on vacation? Stop it until you’re back. You’re always in control of when you pay, and more importantly, when you don't pay.
And we’re not stopping there — we’re developing an intelligent hibernation system that automatically pauses your server when nobody’s playing and wakes it up the moment someone joins. It’s the next step in making hosting effortless and cost-efficient. Unfortunately this will not be available at our launch 30 October, but it is one of our priorities
3. No Overselling — Ever
Traditional hosts often oversell their hardware. That means when you pay for 10 GB of RAM, they’re reselling the unused portion to multiple other clients. It’s how some providers offer unrealistically cheap pricing — but it also means your server might not get the performance you’re paying for.
Serverwave doesn’t do that.
Because you pay only for the RAM your server is actively using, there’s no incentive to oversell. You get exactly what you pay for — guaranteed performance and stability, even during peak hours.
4. Flexibility for Everyone
While our dynamic, usage-based model is ideal for most gamers, we understand that some people prefer a simple flat monthly plan. That’s why we also offer traditional monthly hosting starting at just $4 per GB, with the same high-performance hardware and control panel experience.
You choose the model that fits your play style — flexible pay-per-use or classic monthly pricing.
Serverwave is built for gamers who value fairness, transparency, and control. Whether you’re running a Minecraft community, hosting your next Valheim adventure, or testing mods with friends, you’ll always know exactly what you’re paying for — and you’ll only ever pay for what you use.
This isn’t just hosting — it’s hosting the way it should’ve always been.
